This is an organized training ride for members of the Hawkesbury Triathlon Club. The 2012 Tour de Hawkesbury is organized by Grant Leslie and Jason Reynolds.

Race Start: 6:30am | Date: 26th January | Ride Master: Grant Leslie

Course Rules and Point Score System

A safe and enjoyable ride is the most important factor during the Tour de Hawkesbury. Any rider who does not act in a safe and responsible fashion during the ride will be excluded from the Tour. All open sections and areas for point(s) accrual are subject to riding in a safe fashion. All riders are to listen to instruction from the Ride Master.

Course

The Tour de Hawkesbury is broken into 3 individual stages. Each stage has associated points for Sprint and King of the Mountain awards. Overall Grand Classification is based upon the accrued total of Sprint and KOM points.

Each Stage starts at St Matthews Church in neutral (no racing) and returns to St Matthews in neutral.

The 3 Stages and the available points are:

1)Punt ride for 45 points (combined KOM and Sprint points);

2)Reverse Kurmond for 36 points (combined KOM and Sprint points); and

3Flat ride (lowlands – castlereigh road – londondery) for 30 points (all Sprint points).

General rider behavior

The Tour de Hawkesbury is broken into open (racing) and neutral (easy riding) sections. It is expected behavior that during neutral sections all participants ride at a safe and steady speed and allow all other riders to join/re-join the peleton. No points are awarded in neutral sections. However, proper behavior during the neutral sections will contribute to the Riders’ Rider  and HTC Rider of the Tour Awards.

Secondly, if a rider incurs a problem (mechanical or otherwise) all riders are expected to slow and the section may become neutralized.

All neutral and open sections along with the scoring of points is to the discretion of the Ride Master (Grant Leslie). If you are unsure of the rules on race day or are concerned with points or locations of open sections, consult the Ride Master.

Neutral and Open sections

The Tour de Hawkesbury is divided into neutral and open sections. Neutral sections are non-racing sections where participants are to form a single peleton. Open sections are where riders may ride in fashion to secure points. Riders not in the main peleton at the start of an open section will not be awarded points.

The declaration of Open and Neutral Sections will be made by the Ride Master. The main rule to follow is to slow/stop at the end of points sections to allow other riders to re-join. Neutral sections are for rider safety and to ensure riders of all abilities can participate.
